Progress Energy successfully implemented Generwell v2.21 in the Fall of 2010, just in time for their winter drilling program.  The implementation of this tool streamlined their data management, licensing and approval processes and automated their notifications to keep everyone informed during this busy time. 

 

Jim Stannard, Vice-President of Engineering at Progress said that “Generwell allowed us to consolidate information that was being kept on several spreadsheets.  This greatly streamlined our licensing process by allowing everyone involved to be working with the most current and complete information."

 

The system was first introduced by Randy Schmautz, Progress’ Director of Drilling and Completions, in the Summer of 2010.  Randy saw the value of Generwell to automate the process of capturing and consolidating information from a number of departments. It was particularly important for horizontal wells, where the bottom-hole location and other key parameters for a well can often change several times before a well is finally licensed.  Now, with each key change to a project,  the system automatically sends out an email notification to all individuals involved.
